I participated in a discussion with science journalist David McRaney on his You Are Not So Smart podcast. We chated generally about past and present science of magic research, and I think we had a particularly good discussion on the history of debunking.
David Robson published an article on the Science of Magic in The New Scientist- The inspiration for the piece came from Gustav Kuhn & Geoff Cole’s recent publication on the future of SoM. The piece provides an excellently accessible overview on the current state of the field, as it, in David’s words, transitions “out of its infancy and into adolescence”- variously featuring Gustav, Geoff, Cyril Thomas, Alice Pailhès, Richard Wiseman, and myself.
I delivered an invited lecture about the psychology of illusion for Hjärndagen (Brain Day) 2023 in Stockholm. The event was organized by Forskning & Framsteg and Modern Psykologi. The lecture was recorded for Swedish television.
I appeared on Humorkunskap to chat with host Cecilia Nebel and magician David Persson about magic, communication, and comedy.
I spoke on a panel with Patricia Kingori, Efram Sera-Shriar and Christine Ferguson. We discussed Rose Mackenberg, a private investigator who worked with Harry Houdini to expose fraudulent spiritualists in the 1920s.
In December 2022, I traveled to Stockholm to represent Lund University in the national finals of Forskar Grand Prix, and I was awarded first place in the contest.
